A mid-evening stroll through the garden and a picture of the large climbing/rambling pink and red roses that we didn't prune back. Everything seems to be blooming well in this variable and wet spring weather and the roses are not an exception.
These rugosa roses are the remnants of half a dozen plants we put in when we redid the path leading up from the side about 12 years ago. The Azaleas have gradually encroached on and blocked them out but these two have so far survived.
This shot is from the bench in the front garden looking across the bird bath and through the newly structured arch in the yew hedge. Replacing the grass with hard steel edging and gravel was a master-stroke. Keeping the grass alive and the edging sharp was a nightmare in this north facing, cold section.
