Ride - Meggernie, Perth and Kinross

Where

After months of disruption caused by international travel, packing and selling our American house and renovating a property in St Andrews I made it back to the Ancient Pinewoods of Scotland. My trip today was to Meggernie in Glenlyon. Meggernie is the 22nd segment of the 38 remnants that I’ve visited and the final one in the southern group.

The wood is in upper Glen Lyon and the main section lies south of the River Lyon accross from Meggernie Castle on the slopes of Creag Dubh. A smaller section lies north of the river at Croch na Keys beside Allt Conait.

My ride wasn’t spectacular because I wasn’t able get properly into the woods. Nevertheless it was great to be back out in the countryside again next to these magnificent old trees.

Gear and Nutrition

Nothing fancy again, shorts rather than long with a double layer up-top. I took plenty water and electrolytes but riding was so light that I didn’t use much of either.
