Garden - winter 2018/2019 birds (2)

Many more birds and a wider variety of birds showed up at the feeders today. Most notably the cardinals showed up in force and were joined by doves, juncos, chickadees, sparrows, starlings and a couple of others I couldn’t put a name to. I suspect today was the beginning of the large, multi-species flock showing up and expect to see it regularly now.

The cardinals are always impressive against a snowy background. A small group showed up with males and females.

The juncos and doves also appeared for the first time. They are typical ground feeders. A couple of starlings muscled in on the suet briefly and then left to spread their mayhem elsewhere.
