My life with allergies and why I'm now even less patient with sufferers

I can't claim to have been afflicted like old wotsizname with his black dog, but my allergies used to be horrendous.  I had non-seasonal allergies caused by dust, cat dander, feathers and seasonal allergies cause by pollen and spores.   A few years ago by this time of year I'd have been coughing and wheezing and rubbing my eyes even with ClaritinD.  You can see from the picture of the flat roof below how the pollen lies thick over everything, and I mean everything.  The house is covered, the trees and shrubs are covered, the patio furniture is covered...well, you get my drift.  Now I have no allergies at all and we even have a cat.  What changed?

Three or four years ago I started to take a Quercetin supplement.  I started in the fall and by the following spring my pollen-related symptoms were greatly reduced.  That fall I had no seasonal allergies and since then no sign of anything...ever!

I have no idea how strong the research is but I've read that Quercetin is especially effective for allergy symptom overload because it stabilizes mast cell membranes and prevents the release of histamine and other inflammatory agents. However it acts, I recommend this stuff to all who suffer from allergies.  You have to take it for a while before you notice the effects.  I took 500mg daily for about five months and saw some benefit.  After a year, the cure was in.

Here are some more flowers from the garden.
