Rescuing a Yew hedge
The Yew hedge we planted a few years back grew too tall and suffered from wet heavy snow as a result. This weekend we decided to cut back the height drastically to let the light in and create a bit more body. Over the next couple of years we'll shape the sides to make the base wider than the top.
We took off 2' to 3' in places and left the top pretty open and ragged. Hopefully once it grows back it will do so stronger and less in need of help every spring.
I carted four wheelbarrow loads of pruned branches down to the bottom of the garden where they were piled ready to be shredded.
